8313 Water Distribution System Emergencies for FN Operators: 1.4 CEU
This two-day course is structured to introduce operations personnel to the techniques, equipment and procedures commonly used to handle drinking water distribution system emergencies. Practical sessions will be delivered in an environment suitable for the tasks and procedures included in the sessions.
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to fulfill the following performance objectives:
- Understand the process of monitoring distribution systems
- Describe the common causes of pipeline failures
- Identify various types leak detection devices
- Describe the procedures and equipment used to repair water main breaks and leaks
- Understand the importance of disinfection and sampling
- Explain the concept of Drinking Water Advisories
- Understand the reasons for flushing
