James Maiangowi is a financial services professional with 10 years of experience working in banking,
with extensive knowledge of risk management, regulatory compliance, and governance. Born and raised
on the shores of the Great Lakes, James is Odawa Anishinaabe and a citizen of Wiikwemkoong Unceded
Territory.
James began his career at CIBC in risk management, and has held posts at other banks including Royal
Bank, the Bank of Montreal, and Scotiabank. In his current role, he leads a team of 4 responsible for
regulatory compliance risk mitigation and program governance. Prior to joining the workforce, James
studied mathematics and history at the University of Toronto.
