FN PIEVC Infrastructure Resilience Toolkit Training Workshop

November 27, 2018 @ 8:30 am - November 29, 2018 @ 12:00 pm

In partnership with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), Ontario Centre for Climate Impacts and Adaptation Resources, Stantec, RSI & Engineers Canada,  and the OFNTSC have developed a First Nations Infrastructure Resilience Toolkit. This Toolkit uses industry recognized climate risk assessment principles to assess and fully document the vulnerability and impacts of First Nations infrastructure to current and future climate in a life-cycle asset management context.

The OFNTSC is holding a two and a half day workshop in Peterborough, Ontario that will provide First Nations with a better understanding of infrastructure challenges in the face of extreme weather and future climate events. These workshops are open to First Nations’ infrastructure planners, managers and decision-makers wishing to gain a better understanding of the risks that current and future climate change impact’s First Nations infrastructure.

This workshop will demonstrate the climate risks assessment steps of the Toolkit through hands-on, small group exercises and will show how to define an infrastructure inventory & components, identify climate parameters and undertake a risk assessment using real life case study applications. Participants will also learn about asset management principles, and how climate risks can be incorporated in the life-cycle analysis of infrastructure. All copies of presentations, resource material and toolkit will be provided free of charge to all First Nation delegates.

Workshop Objectives

Upon completion of the Workshop, participants will have:
