Their role is to ensure that all the activities of AWWAO are being carried out effectively by management and staff; they accomplish that by advising, First Nations Operators in the areas of; Operations, Maintenance, Education, Training and Certification.
The Composition of the AWWAO Board of Directors is as follows:
- Four (4) Members of Northern Ontario
- Four (4) Members of Southern Ontario
- One (1) Member is ex-officio, the past-chairperson
Board members are nominated by the AWWAO membership during the Annual General Assembly and Training Conference at the Annual General Meeting. The board term is four (4) years. The decision behind this was to ensure projects underway would be completed, even when leadership changed.
