The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) has announced a new program for First Nations called the Aboriginal Conservation Program.  Eight (8) First Nations will be selected to participate in the Aboriginal Conservation Program for the fiscal year of 2013 – 2014.  The deadline to apply to the Aboriginal Conservation Program is May 6, 2013  

Selected communities will receive a detailed in-home energy assessment and the installation of energy saving retrofits.  In addition eligible small businesses and band-owned facilities (e.g. community centres) can receive an energy audit, plus select upgrades.

The program plans to work with 16 First Nations the following fiscal year (2014-15).

This program is being administered by First Nations Engineering Services Ltd. (FNESL) and the Abor Group, both out of Six Nations. The Program Manager is Darrel Hill at FNESL.
